Folkert de Groot

Folkert has worked his whole professional career in the field of evaluation of medicines, both from a national payer and industry perspective. Directly after his study Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences, he started as a researcher at the Medicines Information Project of the National Health Care Institute (ZIN). In this role he worked on the introduction of budget impact analyses and HTA-methodology and performed analysis of prescription data for medicines policy and reimbursement. Subsequently, worked as senior pharmaceutical advisor on the assessment of medicines, international HTA-collaboration, and on policies related to the Medicines Reimbursement System and the reimbursement of expensive medicines in hospitals. Later Folkert took up the position of deputy secretary of the CFH, the current medicines committee of the Scientific Advice council (WAR-CG).

Since 2009 he works from his independent consultancy firm company ToendersdeGroot B.V. As a consultant he has supported a large number of reimbursement procedures. Based on his extensive experience he has an in-depth understanding of the factors that influence the success of reimbursement. He successfully uses this knowledge for the benefit of his clients by supporting them in setting and achieving realistic goals and employing the right arguments in an effective way. Folkert’s mother tongue is Dutch. He is fluent in English.
